In 1971 John and Cherry Cook started the business trading as a chandlery shop on the River Thames near Hampton Court. In 1975 they bought Walton Marina at Walton on Thames and with their sons Michael and Geoffrey, developed the Walton Marine brand into the one of the most successful boat sales operations on the River Thames.

Management and control of the business transferred to the next generation and marinas on the River Severn, River Wey and Norfolk Broads were added to the Group. Boat sales offices in Plymouth, Wroxham, Lymington and Brighton also helped to establish Walton Marine's reputation for great value and good service, in the UKs' popular boating ares.

Since 2005 the business is owned by Michael Cook, maintaining family traditions and values, whilst also enabling the business to move ahead as one of the UK's leading boat distributors and retailers. At this time Walton Marine was Jeanneau's Central and South East Dealer for Power Boats, including Prestige, Leader, Cap Camarat, Merry Fisher motor boats and the Rigiflex dinghy range.

In 2007 Chris Atterton and Paul Brackstone were appointed as Directors, respectively responsible for Boat Sales and Customer Support.

In 2008, following their appointment as South Coast Distributor for Jeanneau Power Boats, Walton Marine took over the business of Jeanneau's South Coast Dealer, Southern Motor Boats.

In 2009 our South Coast operations in Southampton moved to Swanwick Marina (ex Moody's). Walton Marine were appointed as UK Dealer for Prestige Motor Yachts, a new range of motor yachts starting at 50ft and including the new 60ft "life afloat" concept motor yacht.

In 2010 Walton Marine were appointed as UK and Ireland Distributor for Island Packet Yachts. Already established as "America's Leading Cruising Yacht", Island Packet's boats are becoming a bench mark for the world's best cruising yachts with a growing European sales network.
